[yellow tail] Shiraz - Cabernet (2012)

Winemaker's Description: "For 3 generations the Casella family has been making wine at their winery in the small town of Yenda, situated in South Eastern Australia. It is here that [yellow tail] is created with asimple purpose in mind; to make great wine that everyone can enjoy.  [yellow tail] is everything a great wine should be.  It's approachable, fresh, flavorsome and has a personality all of its own.
80% Shiraz, 20% Cabernet.  Flavors: plum, blackcurrant & raspberries.  Enjoy: with your favorite pasta dish & good conversation."

Overall Impression
I enjoyed this wine; it has a good, quality taste for a bargain (I got it on sale for about $5).  Not a lot of tannins even though it is a younger wine, and yet it tastes and feels sophisticated. I would definitely recommend this wine, and I will probably invest in some of their other varietals :) Oh, and their cork has a cute little kangaroo on it!

Alcohol by Volume: 13%

Color
A very striking burgundy.  I was truly mesmerized as I poured this beauty into my glass. Very dark once its in the glass, with bright colored edges.

Aroma
Sweet and fruity, but with dark undertones.

Viscosity
Practically no legs.

Flavor
Somewhat dry and deep, with delicious and juicy plum flavors.  It goes down very easy, and it is on the lighter side for a Shiraz / Cabernet.  Very smooth, semi-sweet.
